PERSONALIZED coaching PROGRAMS

Clients will receive individualized annual training plans to help them optimize their preparation for their cycling events.  All programs will be geared to the specific needs, goals and abilities of each cyclist and will be built around the athlete’s time constraints. The coach will be in regular contact with the athlete to provide training tips, motivation and adjustments to their training plan.

Most importantly however is to ensure that the athlete finds the training to be a rewarding and enjoyable experience.  Training is not always fun (and can be painful), but it should always be rewarding.

Please note, that Momentum Cycling is no longer offering tiered coaching packages.  We believe that all athletes should receive the amount of time and attention from their coach that is required to help them meet their cycling goals.

Your Personalized Coaching Program Includes:

  • An annual training plan built specifically to the needs of each athlete
  • An initial fitness test to determine baseline cardiovascular fitness and to set training zones
  • Once every 3 months you will have a 1-on-1 riding session with your coach to work on skills & fitness
  • A program designed to enable the cyclist to achieve peak performance for their target races/events
  • Detailed exercise prescription and updates based on the athlete’s current and changing level of fitness

INITIAL CONSULTATION

  • An in person or phone/Skype meeting designed to build a rapport between the coach and athlete

  • Information from this session will be used to build an individual specific, periodized training plan designed to meet the specific needs and goals of the athlete

INITIAL CONSULTATION WILL INCLUDE:

  • Detailed cycling/sport history of the athlete
  • Specific cycling goals and objectives analysis
  • Athlete commitment level and time availability
  • Health and injury history
  • Detailed discussion on how the programs and training logs work
  • General question and answer period

ONgoing COMMUNICATION

  • Coaching services include regular phone/skype/in person meetings to  'check in' with the athlete
  • A forum to ensure that the program is working for the athlete and that they are on track with their training.

 Meetings may iNCLUDE discussion on any of the following topics:

  • Evaluation of current training program
  • Preview of upcoming training blocks
  • Program adjustments
  • Current state of health and fitness
  • Rest and recovery
  • Tapering and peaking

1-on-1 On Bike Riding Sessions

  • Momentum Cycling athletes receive a free 90 minute 1-on-1 session every three months
  • Additional 1-on-1 sessions are available to Momentum Cycling athletes at a discounted rate of $75/session

1-on-1 SESSIONS MAY FOCUS ON ANY OF THE FOLLOWING:

  • Skill Specific Training (i.e. climbing, descending, cornering)
  • Physiological specific training (i.e. speed, power, endurance)
  • Cycling specfic fitness testing
  • Strategy & tactic implementation 
  • Appraisal of riding position, style and bike set - up
  • Video analysis
  • A ‘rip your legs off’ work-out

Fitness Testing

  • Momentum Cycling athletes receive a free initial cardiovascular fitness test 
  • Test is performed on your own bicycle mounted on a Computrainer
  • This scientific test measures Maximal Aerobic Power
  • Protocol for the test is based on the Canadian Cycling Association ramp test protocol
  • Results for the test will be used to establish a base line level of fitness
  • Heart rate and power output training zones will be set based on the results of the test
  • Subsequent follow-up tests are available to Momentum Cycling athletes at a discounted rate of $75 per test
